The USAID Energy Team is available to provide technical assistance (TA) to help PEPFAR implementing partners cope with energy problems inhibiting their programs. The scope of the technical assistance will be flexible to meet the needs of individual country programs and will accommodate quick start-up of activities.

The USAID Energy Team can conduct assessments to address the following questions for PEPFAR programs:

What are the key energy barriers to PEPFAR program implementation in a given site/country?
What options exist to use renewable energy sources to expand the reach of quality health services?
How can problems with poor quality or unreliable power supply from an electric grid be reduced?
How can energy costs best be managed to improve long-term sustainability of PEPFAR and health facility infrastructure?

Capacity building programs can also be designed and implemented to help PEPFAR partners, health facility counterparts, and other related institutions to:

Improve operation and maintenance of energy systems, especially solar systems;
Optimize energy management to prevent power shortages; and
Lower energy costs and bolster sustainability of infrastructure investments.
