Powering Health in PEPFAR Assisted Countries
The USAID Energy Team has recently completed an assessment of options for improving energy services at key health facilities in Ethiopia, Guyana and Haiti, and has been assisting the PEPFAR program in Rwanda with its ongoing efforts to electrify district hospitals and rural health centers across the country.
Ethiopia
The USG PEPFAR program is a multi-country, multi-billion dollar initiative to prevent and treat HIV AIDS in developing countries (www.pepfar.gov). The PEPFAR program in Ethiopia has found the effectiveness, sustainability, and reach of prevention, care and treatment programs are directly compromised by the lack of reliable power at health facilities.
Guyana
